Sporting Clays Classic
Sporting Clays Classic 2013 was a huge success thanks to our generous sponsors and participants. The event was held on Saturday, October 26th in McKinney. Ten stations were set up to accommodate 80 shooters, where teams of four were able to vie for prizes and of course bragging rights. Registration began at 8:00am with a shot gun start at 9:00am. Shooters were treated to a barbecue luncheon and awards ceremony once everyone had completed the course. The first place team award went to Quality Sporting Arms with Marty Mabry, Randy Payne, Craig Ballard and JW Henderson. Each team member won a $25 Academy gift card. The best overall shooter was JW Henderson and for his effort he won a Mossberg Shotgun. The youth division was open to anyone 11-14 and 15-18 years old. Doak McDonald and Justin DeMond won in the 11-14 age division and Brittany Cagle and Luke Borel won in the 15-18 age division. A drawing for a Glock handgun was held after the awards ceremony. The lucky winner was Gary Hunter from Van Alstyne. It was a beautiful day with a great turn out that raised about $7500 for the teachers and students in VAISD! Committee chairs are already planning for the event next year. VAEF would like to thank the generous sponsors: American Bank of Texas, Bank of Texas, Best Pawn Superstore, Dallas Flat Glass Distributors, Freedom Fire and Safety, GCEC, Grayson Collin Excavation, Keller Williams Kim Uselton, North Texas Communications, Quick Check, Redden Concrete, Southwest Auction Co, Todd and Polly Blankenship Family.

VAEF encourages and supports innovative educators and their efforts to improve education. We support new ideas and practices to strengthen teaching and learning. Our goal is to fund successful strategies to educate and prepare students for bright and rewarding futures. The best teaching methods come from our greatest assets: educators. That is why VAEF seeks to award teacher grants to VAISD teachers to enhance teaching and learning. Proposal instructions can be found on the Teacher Grant Link. Apply now!
VAEF understands that the best way to help students learn is to help teachers teach. Teachers have many great ideas to help students learn, but often lack the resources they need to bring these ideas to life. Great ideas run the gamut, as do the educators and the students they teach. We believe our grantees have one thing in common: ideas that deserve support and recognition. Through generous contributions from our school families and caring citizens, VAEF will reward innovation that creates better teachers, more dynamic classrooms and engaged students.
